Raw Lumber

This is the first step to building a sofa frame. We cut all the wood to specific lengths and widths and lay all the pieces out before we start assembling.

Wood Gluing Contact Points

In this step we apply wood glue to any contact points before stapling the frame together.

Frame Assembly

Here we now staple the frame together using 1 1/2" staples

Corner Blocking

This is a crucial step in the frame assembly process. Corner blocking ensures the frame will stay square and reduce warping in the frame.

Corner Blocks

Corner blocks come in different sizes but none-the-less, they have the same job. Here is an image of how we corner block different areas of the sofa frame

Completed Frame

Here we have a completed frame, ready for padding and fabric. You can see the springs have been installed and tied together for extra strength and longevity.

Spring Ties

We tie the spring not only to themselves but also to the frame, if you skip this step, you'll eventually feel like you're sinking into the armrests of the couch.

Sewing

After all the fabric is cut to proper measurements, we then sew all the fabric together using a 1/2" seam to ensure a strong stitch.

Upholstery Install

Once all the fabric is sewn together, it's time to install using staples and tack strips.

Here is a completed upholstery install. Only things left are feet and dust cover fabric on the bottom.
